The Statutory holidays in Nunavut Territory

Statutory holidays in the Canadian territory of Nunavut NU:

Nunavut observes some special holidays in addition to the fedaral holidays in Canada. Those special holidays are as follows:

Nunavut Day, July 9:

It was originated as a paid holiday for Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated and regional Inuit associations. It has then become in 1999 a half-day holiday for Government employees in and a full day holiday in 2001.

Most employers in Nunavut give the day off with the two exceptions being the Federal Government and the North West Company.

Civic holiday is observed on the first Monday in August.

But "Boxing Day" is not considered a statutory holiday in Nunavut.

*Nunavut Day in 2021 will be on Friday, July 9th.
*Nunavut Day in 2022 will be a Saturday, July 9.
