Background of Thanksgiving in Canada:
The first Thanksgiving in Canada was held in 1872 to celebrate the recovery of the Prince of Wales from a serious sickness. After 1879, Canadians started to celebrate Thanksgiving every year, but it was not always in October. It used to be celbrated around Armistice Day in November.
For native people of Canada (Indians), Thanksgiving was a way of everyday life rather than a one-day celebration.
